This year for International Women’s Day we wanted to highlight some of the women in the Arcaa community that we have been lucky enough to work with over the past few months.
We feel each of these women demonstrates an inspiring story of achievement in their own regard.
Sophie and Jayde are women on a mission to normalise all things motherhood. Their podcast Beyond the Bump highlights the ups and downs of becoming a mother, the struggles many women go through and ways that they can feel more supported and guided.
They often speak of taboo subjects such as mum guilt, post-partum body image, infertility, breastfeeding and post-natal depression. The reviews say it all, women flock to the podcast each week to have the questions they were too afraid to ask, answered. To hear a story similar to theirs in a different light or just to feel as though they are giving it their best go, and that’s all you can do.
They provide a space of empowerment and knowledge, for women to flourish in.
Resilience is this beautiful Mumma of two.
Elle was incredibly open through her two difficult pregnancies and premature births on social media. She brakes down the barrier of how pregnancy and motherhood is portrayed on Instagram, stretch marks and all.
She battled through Hyperemesis until she delivered her son Rocket, at 35 weeks, whilst still being the best Mumma to her toddler Ava.
Elle’s Instagram is a stunning visual diary of her every day, family and beautiful aesthetics.
Juliette is a yoga instructor, mentor and wellbeing coach. She moved to Australia 4 years ago, learned to speak and teach in English and jump into the flow of Australian culture and way of living, leading with a full heart and a sense of trust. Today, Juliette conducts teacher training at Byron Yoga Centre where she helps others find their own path and voice as a yoga teacher but also as a human being.
As a woman, it is often hard to juggle the many roles bestowed upon us, and the societal expectations can often be limiting for our growth. At the core of any woman is her intuition, and Juliette encourages all women to trust in this instinctive and essential part of being feminine. It has the ability to calm the confusion and see the clearness of her path. She believes in the importance to be true to oneself, despite the distractions in our peripheral.
Reconnecting with our wholeness, accepting and embracing our complexity as a human being is the most empowering gift, we can do to ourselves and the world around us.
Gemma is the founder and creator of Arcaa Movement and soon to be Mumma.
Gemma started Arcaa in 2016 here in her home of the Byron shire after noticing a lack of active pieces that were both feminine and functional.
With a passion for women’s wellness and an understanding of the female form accumulated from years working as a designer, she creates well-crafted, comfortable pieces that honour the female body and our environment.
Now working out of our studio and retail store in the Byron Industrial estate, Gemma has grown Arcaa to a global label with a continued focus on sustainability and ethical practices.
