Designer/Product Developer

We are seeking a Product Developer/ Design Assistant to join our growing team based in Byron Bay.

This exciting role is for a multi skilled individual who has the ability to combine the technical, practical and the creative. Working closely with our Creative Director to develop styles from initial concept, through to sampling and bulk. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the production process, as well as contribution to trend research and collection concepts.

The role is 4 days per week (32hrs). 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Creative Director to build new collections that are in line with our brand vision, trends and customer demands.
  • Create detailed tech packs, including construction, fabric, trims, workmanship details and grading for supplier handover.
  • Effective communication with our network of suppliers 
  • Ensure product is developed, sampled and produced as intended within critical path deadlines.
  • Research, identify and interpret trends inline with the handwriting of the brand.
  • Organise fit sessions, compile comments, update tech packs and communicate with suppliers.
  • Negotiating prices to achieve margin targets whilst maintaining product quality
  • Building meaningful working relationships with supplier base.
  • Create technical drawings using Illustrator
  • Technical management including fit consistency, garment efficiencies, grading, packaging, quality assurance and compliance 
  • Source new fabrications, trims, technology and consistently across new sustainable developments.
  • Manage SMS and Photoshoot sampling.
  • Seek feedback from Sales team, review product and gain feedback for continuous improvement of product.

 

Skills:

  • 3+ years experience in a similar role.
  • Fashion Design or Technical qualification 
  • Sound knowledge of garment construction, specifications, grading and quality control. Pattern making experience highly regarded.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Ability to problem solve with a solutions focus.
  • Passion for creating exceptional product and collections.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively within a team as well as independently  
  • Ability to prioritise, multi-task and meet tight deadlines 
  • A friendly and professional attitude 
  • High attention to details and strong organisation skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and MS Office.
  • Positive and driven individual
